Chick-fil-A at Mountainlair reduces operating hours due to COVID-19 exposure

West Virginia University announced in a Community Notice on Sunday (Feb. 28) the Chick-fil-A location at the Mountainlair will temporarily reduce its operating hours due to staffing limitations following a COVID-19 exposure at the storefront on Thursday, Feb. 25.

Chick-fil-A will open at 10:30 a.m. Monday (March 1) and will operate until its regular 9 p.m. closing time. On Tuesday (March 2) and Wednesday (March 3), the location will operate under holiday hours (noon to 9 p.m.) due to WVU’s designated non-instructional days. On Thursday (March 4), the location will open at 10:30 a.m. and operate until 9 p.m.

Chick-fil-A’s hours of operation beyond Thursday will be evaluated and announced at a later time.

After learning of the COVID-19 exposure, WVU immediately implemented its safety protocols, initiating a deep cleaning of the space.

The University also is working closely with the Monongalia County Health Department in its case investigation and contact tracing.

WVU’s dining facilities underwent significant changes prior to the start of the fall semester to enhance health and safety precautions. As a result, anyone who visited the Chick-fil-A location should self-monitor for symptoms, but health experts say potential exposure in this environment is minimal.

Students and employees can learn more about how to respond to potential COVID-19 exposure at the What to Do If... page of the Return to Campus website.
